Yes, it’s done!  The Pizza Generator is complete and ready for your culinary randomization!

This one was another generator where I went in for really deep analysis, and I think it paid off.  Pizzas are a complex business, and I found specific “pizza patterns” that guided the generator’s design.  There were also more than I expected, which got a bit complicated.

With this I need a bit of a break from food generators.  They’re fun, but surprisingly complex, and I think because I love to cook I tend to get into them really deep.  I’m not done yet – I at least want to do a candy bar generator – but I’m gonna need a rest.

As for other generators, well I’ve got plans . . .

It’s there, the Pizza Generator is in Beta!

I’d say it’s mostly done – at most I need to add some new ingredients, tweak the probabilities, maybe some formatting. So let me know what you think and go forth and pizza!

Here’s some samples:

  • A pizza with Artichoke Hearts, Bannana, Romaine Lettuce, Capers, and Parsley, topped with Tandoori Sauce.
  • A pizza with Capers, Zucchini, Roasted Fennel, Shredded Carrots, Bacon, Carnitas, Tuna, Salami, and Short Rib Meat, topped with Goat Cheese.
  • A pizza with Chipotle Pepper, Pulled Pork, Sausage, Hot Dogs, and Jalapenos.
  • A pizza with Meatballs, Salami, Prosiccuto, Steak, Chicken, and Basil.
  • A pizza with Pinto Beans and Red Pepper, topped with Ricotta and Tomato Sauce.
  • A pizza with Red Pepper and topped with Cheddar.
  • A pizza with Romaine Lettuce, Almonds, and Kimchi, with White Sauce.
  • A pizza with Tuna, Carnitas, and Meatballs, topped with Goat Cheese and Fontina.
  • A pizza with Yellow Onion, White Onion, Capers, Romaine Lettuce, Pulled Pork, Buffalo Meat, Canadian Bacon, and Italian Spices.

And here it is, the Fusion Food Generator!  It’s done, ready to go.  OK done enough to release anyway!  So enjoy such things as:

  • Teriyaki Potato and Ginger Spinach Argula with Bearnaise sauce
  • Sesame Pizza
  • Couscous Beet on Chips
  • Roe and Beet Leek on Biscuit
  • Chili Quesadilla
  • Barbecue Salsa and Sun-Dried Tomato Melon
  • Spicy Sweet-and-sour Buffalo with Chili sauce
  • Stuffed Olive Octopus with Sweet sauce
  • Habanero Almond and Spinach Goat
  • Saffron Egg and Artichoke Pumpkin on Pasta

As noted my focus on generators this year is probably going to be food (though I keep getting new ideas).  I’ve got plans for at least 2 more food generators, which may mean it warrants its own section eventually . . .

Let me know what you think!

My theme for the next few generators, barring interruption or more likely distraction, is going to be food.  I love to cook, and it’s only natural I apply this to the generators.  Plus it’s kind of interesting to study how we name and create foods.  First up is the Fusion Food Generator, now in beta, which generates assorted items, leaning towards meals and snacks.  Let’s take a look at some samples, shall we?

  • Steak Dumpling
  • Mango Cheese and Spinach Crab with Barbecue sauce
  • Tempura Spicy Soy Burrito with Apple sauce
  • Crab on Toast with Pesto sauce
  • Boiled Burrito
  • Squid Pilaf
  • Toasted Curried Miso Bean and Kimchi Taco
  • Buttered Honied Maple Mango and Kimchi Octopus on Fries
  • Roasted Risotto
  • Boiled Mint Cheese and Potato Squid
  • Nacho Sausage
  • Spiced Parmesan Risotto with Mustard sauce
  • Lamb Lasagna with Honey sauce
  • Pickled Banana Steak on Risotto
  • Baked Sandwich

Lamb Lasagna with Honey sauce actually sounds pretty good (especially if you worked some mint leaves in there).  So, what do you think?

So the Food Generator is getting close to a Beta release.  How does this look?

  • Spiced Eggplant Mushroom on Croquette
  • Braised Buttered Ham
  • Buttered Couscous
  • Braised Raisin Burrito
  • Honey Okra and Spicy Corn Tabbouleh
  • Mint Pepperoni with Honey sauce
  • Deviled Firey Peanut and Onion Squid
  • Battered Poutine with Cream sauce
  • Pickled Sausage Risotto
  • Boiled Jerked Pepperoni Taco with Mustard sauce
  • Cool Ranch Corn and Corn Shrimp with Orange sauce
  • Breaded Spiced Eggplant
  • Grilled Apple Dumpling
  • Pesto Potato on Pilaf
  • Buttered Braised Sesame Mushroom and Artichoke Egg on Risotto
  • Mushroom on Noodles
  • Honey Chickpea Eggplant
  • Deviled Pepperoni
  • Egg and Potato Mushroom on Risotto
  • Raisin Quinoa
  • Spinach and Bread Couscous on Toast
  • Grilled Peanut Artichoke
  • Baked Corn Toast
  • Maple Corn and Mustard Eggplant Pork
  • Raisin Garlic Eggplant

I’m pretty pleased with it.  Some more setup and vocabulary is needed, but I’m pretty happy with it.  It sounds real.

If not always appetizing.

My next generator is a food generator – focused mostly on savory meals and snacks.  Here’s some sample results:

  • Candied Cheeseburger Taco
  • Stuffed Chimichanga Loaf
  • Fried Cheeseburger On-a-stick
  • Pickled Parmesan Sausage Tempura
  • Barbecue Bread
  • Cajun Duck Omelette
  • Baked Onion Egg Curry
  • Barbecue Cheese Cabbage Soup
  • Mango Onion
  • Fried Squid Nuggets

Any of these sound good?

So what’s the next generator planned?

Well, first a bit of a warning – I’m changing apartments so I might get a wee bit busy depending.  Now I’m an old hand at moving, but this time I’ve got a roommate (first time in 4 years) so I don’t know if this means it’ll be easier (help) or harder (more stuff).

But the next generator at least is going to be a food one – a bit more silly than the Reality Show Generator (which at its core involved serious linguistic analysis).  More something to create those ridiculous dishes that we see in experimental menus, or assorted Food Atrocities people whip up and post videos of.  Cheeseburger Pizza and Fried Kimchi on a Stick and so on.

It’s strange I haven’t thought of this as I like to cook (I even post about it at my blog), so it should be fun to build a generator close to my heart.  I might even try some others related, depending!
